Robert Frost – The Road To Freedom

“Lodged Poem” by Robert Frost is a beautiful classic piece of written word. One of my favorite books, and one I often put on top of my reading list, is his “The Royal Road.” The poems within this book are truly exquisite works of art. In his book he includes the exquisite poems “Mrs. Hunt” and “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”

The first poem in this collection is called “The Ladder to the Stars.” This poem starts out just as beautifully and eloquently as many of Frost’s other poems, but then it falters somewhat. It seems that Frost wanted to say something meaningful, but he just couldn’t quite find the right words. He turns back to the first line of the poem, “And now I’m lost for words.” And really, what can be more appropriate for such a beautiful poem about a ladder to the stars?

The next poem, “The Ladder to the Stars,” is perhaps even more gorgeous and moving than his previous poem.

Frost wrote this one while he was on his death bed. He was only thirty-three years old. “The Ladder” describes his departure from this world and his coming back. It is probably his most famous poem, and has been read by millions.

Another poem in this collection, “The Odes of Horace” is a very funny poem. Frost makes use of a wide variety of idioms, alluding to things like popular culture, his family, the way people talk, and even the way you’d treat your pet. If you have never read any of Frost’s work, this is definitely a must-read for the poet.

In his “The Queen of the Scots,” Robert Frost taps into the frustration and hopelessness that many of us have felt when we are alienated from others, when our hopes are unmet, or when we cannot get what we want out of life.
